Camera help

To all my fellow bloggers....
(especially those that specialize in photos)

Give me your feedback on a Digital SLR, specifically whether you prefer Canon or Nikon.

I am wanting a camera that will enable my pictures to go to the next level.

I know this is very broad, but I would love to hear the pros and cons that any of you have found....
or at least what you like about one or the other. If there is another camera out there that I should look into, feel free to let me know!

Thank you in advance!

Are you on Flickr? You might find some advice and suggestions from some of the groups. There are groups dedicated to some different camera brands.

Good luck!

I am not a camera buff, BG. I have an old school 35m Yashica I shoot with a wide angle lens. (28mm) I have a Canon point and shoot digital. Nothing fancy. You have the eye for a shot, I have seen this over and over in your photos.....it's not the camera, it's the eye behind it. You've got the eye. Don't get into needing the next thing. Buy a throw away camera....and shoot. my simple-minded suggestion.

Grin.
There's about a million discussions out there about Nikon vs Canon.

My advice is:

Go to a real good Shop and play around with the cameras. Hold them, test shoot.
Some REAL good shops even let you have the camera for 24hours.

I have Canon G9 - EXCELLENT - light, easy and good quality pics, quick if in a hurry.

I have Canon D50 - can't use it yet.
HEAVY, need to change lenses etc.

G9 is ALWAYS with me + extra battery. That's all you need.

I've taken over 20.000 pics with that and still works like a new!

Like Nicole said, you should try them, hold, feel...

Good luck!

Both Nikon and Canon are great cameras. I have a Nikon D60 and I love it. I recommend Nikon D90. When you are looking for a camera, make sure that it has a built in "image stabilization lens" lens.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I am a Canon girl all the way, but no particular reason except that Canon is supposed to be the best.
