still laughing...

Ok, you didn't really think my trip would go without a glitch did you?
What then would I have to write about while awaiting our flights!
The newest episode in...
AS WE FLY
(can you hear the dramatic music playing like the soap operas?)

So, as you may or may not know, my parents, sister and her son are coming down to Rio today to visit with us.  The tickets for my parents were a Christmas present so that they could see where we live and spend some more time with our kids.
Don't ask why, please, but they are flying down through Atlanta.  We are going via JFK and Miami...

stop production, there has been an error...it can not be that simple.....
Well, their flight for Atlanta left a little late, but they are there now and waiting for their on time flight to our city.  We left for JFK an hour later, everything going well...UNTIL
We get to JFK and I notice the flight for Miami is leaving a little late.  Head straight for the airline club because I knew that would be the safest way to ensure that I would have a cart waiting for us in Miami to get us to the gate on time..(hear wedding bell music...getting to the chapel on time hahahaha!)((oh, and we detoured to the bathroom and food stop before the club:))
Once again, the cost of this club has way been paid off for by all the hassle they help us avoid!  Why?  hearing dramatic music playing...
I let the lady know that I am concerned etc etc.... well, we are sitting having our pizza, and I hear over the intercom system (heard just a little bit clearer than the teacher's voice on the "Charlie Brown" cartoons)... could Mrs. Me come to the front desk for an important message....

agh, this can not be good!  (I don't know how much you can imagine hearing the music, but I am hearing major dramatic music playing as I walk the plank to the front desk.....)

So, luckily, the lady that I had spoken to when we first came in saw that our flight was going to not make the connection in Miami...I was going to get in at 11:40, and my other flight left at 11:10.... but GOOD NEWS is coming...hear tinkly music while dancing through the flowery fields in a long flowy dress that just looks perfect on tv, but you really don't like when a "real" person tries it on...
she found us three seat together, and in the bulkhead so we can stretch out, on another flight leaving here at 9:30.

The only glitch is that we have to make a stop over in a city close by to our hometown... but at least we stay on the same plane.
The other thing is that we get in 3 hours later than expected, but at least that isn't too bad considering all the other alternatives... i.e.-paying for a hotel in NY overnight, paying for a hotel in Miami overnight, waiting another day to get home....

and this has been another episode in

AS WE FLY
(hear the exit music playing)

again???

Ok, so I haven't posted too often these last few weeks due to our US Trip.
It has been going really well with many fun things happening....
the zoo, amusement park, lots of ice cream trips, going outside to:
play in yard (a real treat for our apartment living kids)
water fights with a hose and bucket,
washing Pappy's car (my Dad)
so much to list....

so on to why is the list titled "again???"

I had to go back to get a filling checked from the dentist today.  There was a long discussion about the possible problem and solution...
but why the post is called "again???" is because in the discussion
my dentist FARTED!!!
Now, for those familiar with my blog, we all know that this is not the first time this has happened to me.  For any newcomer to my blog see post:

So, how do I move forward?  You know the saying:
"you bring out the best in people"... what can I say?
"I bring out the "air" in people?"

Well, he just said "oh, excuse me" and kept talking.  Once again, I tried my best to not laugh and ignore the embarrassing situation that I found myself in...
all the time wondering if this happens to others?  and I am not talking about your husband or children....
I mean professionals that you are having conversations with (or driving with)

Well, we go home in one day, so I will sign off until we settle back in
(or until there is the airport situations, which always seem to happen to me also!)

off to see the animals

We are off to see the new baby elephant!
One of our favorite things to do when we come visit in the summers is going to the zoo!!  It will be extra special this year because there is a new baby elephant.

My inner European is....

Your Inner European is Italian!

Passionate and colorful.

You show the world what culture really is.

Well, as to be expected...my family is part Italian, (but a very heavy part if you know what I mean), and so this outcome comes as no surprise, but it was a fun test to take!

Fun in the sun

We finally had a day without rain, so we headed to our local amusement park, Kennywood.
My daughter is only tall enough to ride the Jackrabbit, a wooden roller coaster around since 1921.
She does like it a lot!  One of her favorites are the umbrellas that whirl you around up above the trees and then close to the ground. When asked in the car ride home what her favorite was?  The merry-go-round!
My son enjoyed the same rides but this year was tall enough to ride the Thunderbolt!
This was a favorite when I was growing up.  It is also a wooden roller coaster, called the "Ultimate Roller Coaster" and "King of the Coasters" by the NY Times in 1974.
It is always so fun for me to share my childhood experiences with my children, especially since we live so far away in a totally different atmosphere.
We had a great day, and now it is raining again!  Good thing we took advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday.
We had a day full of our favorite treats too!
Funnel cakes
 candy apples
fresh squeezed lemonade, slushies, cotton candy
Yum yum!

To end the night we saw the fireworks festivities.
All in all, a great walk down memory lane and such a enjoyable way to spend the day!

Happy 50th!

This past Saturday, June 28, 2008, was my parent's 50th wedding anniversary.  We went to a pretty restaurant, which happened to be where my wedding reception was.  It was so much fun!
I explained to my kids about our reception, and their question was:
"what's a reception?"  So cute!
The restaurant has a beautiful view of the city,
even though it rained quite a bit while we were there.
My daughter took  this picture!

My Mom and Dad danced to "Unforgettable", dedicated to them.
They looked so sweet dancing in each other's arms.
50 years....
it seems unreal to think about even being around for that long!
I guess we all have our destinies planned...
I hope mine includes a 50th wedding anniversary :)
