As my Mother would say...

My Mom always had great sayings...and here is one that applies perfectly to my situation right now:

"Now that is highway robbery".....
So what could be so outlandish that would deserve this? How about the equivalent of $1,702.64.

That is the price that the kennel wanted me to pay to board my two dogs and cat over the holidays!!!
Granted we will be gone 24 days, but PUHLEEZE!!! I might as well not even go away!

I know it is a long time to leave my animals. Please DO NOT reprimand me for that until you have lived overseas for an extended period of time. I love my animals, and the place that I usually take them is quite unbelievable. I will add their link here, even though it is in Portuguese, just click through their site. The place is actually like the pictures. They let the dogs run free and it really doesn't smell or anything. I have been there unannounced before and it was amazing to have 20 dogs come running up to me yet no pee smell, no little packages sitting on the pathway or in the grass. They do take good care of them, even giving them a bath before they come home.

Yea, all nice and all BUT $1,702.64...
sorry furry friends, you will be staying in the house with the maid and her daughter! (and that is only going to cost me a camera, tennis shoes and a few football shirts! well, plus I will leave money for food and pay her, too! still doesn't equal $1,702.64~)

The kennels here cost between 20-30 a day for pets. So it could be anywhere between 1400-1500 plus taxes here too. I haven't left Harley in a kennel, but I know friends who have and that is the going rate here.

I have to say I'm glad that your pets will be home with the maid. At least they will be cozy in familiar surroundings. Plus it will have your scent there..etc.

Wowzie!! I just have a bird and just take her to relatives when I have to go somewhere for a long time. I'm glad your maid will be watching over your fur babies *smile*.
Did I ever tell you my mom is Portuguese. Her parents came from Portugal to work in sugarcane plantation here in Hawaii.

Whoa! That's a lot of mula! They will be happier at home anyway with someone watching over them. We are boarding our dog for seven days at Christmas. The lady that will be taking care of Ben owns a kennel and a horse farm and treats the dogs like her own children. Santa will come to see our dog and he will sleep in the house too. :)

Wow. That's a lot of money! Good thing you made other arrangements. The furry ones will be in the comfort of their homes!

Have a safe flight to US.

Wow. I did not know that it was that expensive for kennels! I'm sure they will be fine with what you are doing.

Have fun! Will you be blogging while away?

Wow! That's highway robbery!! I bet your animals will LOVE being in their own home, anyway!! My heart breaks for you that you have to leave them....but family is family and Christmas is important to be with family. You are blessed that you can go home!!

In Brazil, you could house three PEOPLE for 24 days cheaper than that!!! WOW! It is a beautiful place though.
