time to make the donuts...

I felt like my Grandmother this weekend.  She always made everything from scratch and, wow, it was always so yummy!
When you live overseas, or anywhere that is away from whatever is your home cooking, you have cravings.  Not like:
  • I want some Krispy Kreme donuts but am not going to because I am on a diet craving....or
  • no, no Godiva today because it is a little expensive and we are trying to save this year...or
  • even though I am pregnant, I am not eating for two, but eeeeewwwwww, I want that fourth helping of ice cream
Cravings that CAN NOT be satisfied because you just CAN NOT get the item....
You just have to start making everything from scratch......
hence, my 3rd time making donuts!  Yummy, and we all love them! (there goes the diet!)

Look, Grammy, my homemade donuts :)

HI I am Darci and I got to your blog from Gabbys. I just noticed that you lived in Venezuela. My brother in law just got assigned there as the attache to to the Ambassador. The stupid president will not release their shipment so they are heading to another assignment. We are praying for Brasil. We lived there for 5 years and miss it.

Wow! Are they just like the donuts you buy in the shop? Same texture and everything? They look great! Are you pregnant? It sounded like you said you were!

Good for you! There is something about baking from scratch that just seems to take you back. The whole process can be very relaxing - or very stressfull! Yummy!

I know what you mean about missing your home cooking when you are away from home.... through the years, I've learned to draw closer to my native country by way of cooking....I love food typical of my country, and since it was almost impossible to find it here, where we live, I learnt to cook it myself... My kids, born and raised here in the USA, love when I cook dishes typical of our country... :) How fun

Blessings

Cielo

I know what you mean about ingredients. I made "Apple Pie" from green mangoes when we were in Ecuador...and made home made donuts -- I taught the church ladies to make them. They were amazed. Now??? I get my pie from Bakers Square and the donuts from Krispy Creme!!!

But I'd love to have some of yours!!! They look Yummy!
