Now for all of those that live outside of Brasil....it is not any time of year (well, maybe in New Orleans). For us inside Brasil, it is time for
CARNAVAL!
This means that everyone is partying, almost everything closes, and the streets are constantly packed with people, music, party hats and festivities.
I have 6 extra adults staying in my house....so that equals up to:
8 adults, 2 children, 2 dogs and a cat.
It makes for an interesting and lively time!
We love having our family close by, especially to celebrate Carnaval.
This year we will all be attending the Sambodromo on Monday.
We will see 6 schools....including some of our favorites!
I will be sure to post about this all after Wednesday of next week. So please understand if I am not around commenting, or reading, or posting......
I have included some shots of where I have taken the family....
Enjoy!
As we say here in Brasil:
Bom Carnaval
(Happy Carnaval!)

If its not asking too much, could I and 17 of my friends stay at your house too? : ) Make sure to take lots of photos BG! I want a full report on my desk immediately upon your return! d.
HI! I just found your blog. It is INDEED that time of year, as strongly evidenced by the samba drumming that I hear every night in my city (JF, a few hours from Rio). It's so primal. The one year we went to the Sambadrome we sat on the side of the bateria - I felt like my insides were still shaking the next day! Have fun!

Have fun!
Have fun with your family!
I wish we were going on the same night!
I love the Portuguese Reading room-thanks for reminding me of it!
See you soon.
I just found your blog through The Road Less Traveled. I'm in Brasil right now, but only for a month. I just found out that my in-laws vacation on a deserted island for Carnival, so I won't be seeing Carnival after all. I'm so disappointed! I'll just have to read about it on blogs like yours and hope I'll be back during this time again in the future (we usually travel here in March/April). Looking forward to reading more of your blog!
Have lots of fun and take lots of photos!
