I feel like Pigpen

The weather has turned into a beautiful, hot spring/summer. The sun is shining brightly almost every day. And the days are long here...
the sun rises before 6 am and sets after 9 pm!

The peonies are blooming right now and their fragrance is intoxicating. Sometimes I just stop by the bush and smell the air...except when I feel like this:

Why do I feel like Pigpen? Well, the bugs are swarming around me! My daughter went on a walk with me tonight to get Bella some exercise...but she ran home half way because the little gnats and mosquitos are horrible right now.
The company was spraying twice a day, but supposedly the spray was toxic chemicals that have been banned in the US and the UK, except for agricultural use.
Well...when I swam this morning I felt like I was breathing them in with every breath..
when I walked this evening they were literally like the picture above...
when we sit by the pool to supervise the children they are landing on us..
our faces, arms eyes, ears...

counting the days until Key West

Well, I hope Key West is better. I must say, that here in Tennessee I have NEVER seen as many mosquitoes as this time right here, right now!! And it is very irritating. I spray my skin with repellants every time I go out, and still these creatures are biting me THROUGH my clothes! We have locust here everywhere too...it is like the plague of the pharoah around here. The locusts are chewing the tops off many of my plants. And a feral cat broke into my coop and abducted my two youngest hens!!! It is making me crazy!!!!!!

I hope Key West will have no bugs for your visit and that you can fully enjoy the outdoors!

Best of luck.

I have been avoiding some local hiking in the mountains alongside streams and lakes lately because we are getting reports of a wild proliferation of gnats and mosquitos. Is it possible for you to get hold of an organic lotion to repel them? I also use oil of Citronella Insect Repellent Outdoor Candles. But I don't know if you have access to these products in a timely manner. Hopefully, you won't have to deal with those pesky biting creatures too much longer.

Yikes Sis!!! Looking forward to Key West too!!! Can't wait to see the improvements/changes. No bugs biting here...hope it stays that way!!! Of course have to do the perimeter spray to keep the ants and hopefully stink bugs out of the house. Counting down the days till break...talk soon!
